If You Child Was Born Of The Third Sex, Would You Have “gender Correction” Surgery Done On Them?

The Third Sex
Would you choose to have your child made into a boy or a girl if they were born of the third sex (both sets of sexual organs) or leave them the way they were born and let them choose what they want to be later in life?
If you would have the surgery preformed on them, why would you choose to do so?

wow. sorry
you know i think being a hermaphrodite is pretty close to perfect myself. you were made perfect and your parents messed with that its terrible.
its terrible for parents to put their small child through operations to rid them of working parts that might become a part of their self identity. no i would never do “gender correction” on my kid. if they wanted to to have their gender “corrected” the child should have a say when they are old enough to make that decision.
damn that sucks for you… if i were you i would be mad (and sad) as well.

I’ve never thought of it! But, a friend in highschool was born with both sets, and when she turned 18 she had surgery to become (i guess only) a woman. She was a twin and had a brother.
They were both born with both sets of reproductive organs (not sure if they both were fully functioning).
I didn’t know them before the age of 8 so I don tknow how they became he and she, I’m sure it was their mothers decision to have one as a girl and one as a boy.
I think it would be difficult to not identify as either.
Or, even more difficult to identify as a female but have a penis as well as a vagina.

I think it could be considered plastic surgery.
I wouldn’t let my baby get a nose job or implants.
If it is not causing medical problems let it be until the child is old enough to decide for them selves what they would like.
It would be great to give them a unisexed name too.

I wouldn’t. I think it’s sad, and gross, that society feels the need to muck around with a baby’s sexual organs just so we don’t have to admit our concept of gender is flawed. Lots of other cultures have more accurate gender categories, but the binary western system is so ingrained into us that a lot of people think it’s the only or “proper” way to think.

normally a baby which is born with both sex organs usually grow up and one dominates teh other,,
no i wouldnt as that would be changing your baby and you should be happy to have one no matter what ,,,

I would never make that choice at birth. Who am I to decide which gender they are?
If, once they’re around 3 or 4, they’re showing a *very* obvious preference to one “gender role” or the other, than I would most likely have them ‘corrected’, but there’s a ton of medical factors that play in, as well.
Basically, I would just let them figure out on their own what they are, and then help them in any way possible, to reach their OWN state of normalcy

Well I would have a DNA test done and see what he or she shows genetically. I too would check the viability of the sex organs he or she contained and base it off of that. If all of these could not be determining factors then I would wait until he or she is older and see what they show a tendency towards. Sad situation and I wish the best for those of you in this situation. Good Luck!

Whatever sex they had more of. Like, if I had a girl that happened to have a penis, I’d talk to the doctors about its viability. If the penis was never going to work, then let her be a girl. And vice versa. I don’t think both sets of organs can work, it hasn’t occurred before, so unless both sets worked perfectly I wouldn’t worry about it. If she has ovaries, they are going to start giving off lots of estrogen when she hits puberty, and what girl wants to deal with boobs AND her own dick at the same time? Same goes in the other case.

So in other words you mean a hermaphrodite
I would just leave the kid as is and let them decide what to do later in life ,,,Because I dont have the right to interfere with nature.
That’s even worse , having to find out that way ,,
If I told you some things about my life you would wonder how I have become what I am today (what I said in the email is just the tip of the ice burg of what I had to endure)

Yes, they’d be more thankful in the long run. I mean, seriously, would you want to be part man and woman? Be realistic here.

Difinitely NO..gender correction isn’t the answer with this kind of situation.. if it was my child, i’d rather be doing counselling on her/him. I’ll let him/her know how to cope up with his/her situation. I’ll ask help in how to deal with my child to the doctors…you know, even there’s a mistake on his/her personality, we can help him/her to fight and have the courage to overcome the urges of being on the third sex…i know it’s hard and tough..but, it’ll took someone else to help him/her..my brother is a gay….my parents was not on the state of mind as i have…i’ve got my own kid now..and if ever it will happen to him, i’ll make sure i’ll be a great help on him!! GOD SPEED!!!!
